Oben expands its team with regulatory specialist Sharon Wake

Oben is delighted to announce a new appointment to the firm’s regulatory practice: Sharon Wake joins Oben Regulatory as Senior Manager.

Sharon is a chartered accountant and was a key figure in the Examination Unit at the Jersey Financial Services Commission where she played a central role in the development and design of the revised risk-based examination methodology, contributed to the themes set for supervisory visits and led visits to regulated entities. Prior to performing this role she had been a Senior Manager in the Commission’s Enforcement team, where she managed all aspects of an enforcement case. Her supervisory and enforcement experience gained whilst working at the Commission will add further strength and depth to Oben’s expertise.

Sharon’s experience includes other regulatory and advisory roles: she performed the role of Head of Risk for a Jersey regulated fund and trust company business and has been a Compliance Officer, MLRO and MLCO. Additionally, she had a senior role at Deloitte, Jersey, performing regulatory and forensic investigations, and as Assistant Director of Investigations at the Institute of Chartered Accounts of Scotland she investigated allegations of professional misconduct and provided technical advice.

Nicola Ingram, a Director at Oben Regulatory, said “We are delighted to welcome Sharon to Oben. Sharon comes to us with a wealth of experience and expertise. Her skill set perfectly complements our existing team and is an exciting addition to our regulatory offering. Her appointment responds to the increasing number of enquiries Oben is receiving for advice and support on regulatory matters.”
